Spent yesterday putting the motor back into the Miata. I’d removed it months ago to replace the clutch and fix a bunch of oil leaks, but kept getting held up by other things. Finally had an open day and decided to make real progress. Got the motor in and everything connected to the point where it would run. Gave it a quick start with an open header just to make sure :)
Next up is to fill the transmission, attach driveshaft, exhaust, install radiator, and attach the clutch slave cylinder. That should get it to the point where it is drivable.
After that I need to install a better rear subframe (looks like the previous owner of my car mounted a curb pretty hard). But first need to free the control arm and hub seized on the replacement subframe.
I have an LSD to install at some point (Skids!)
Fun fact, did you know the Miata has built in beer holders? Now you do! Two perfectly beer sized holes in the rad support.
I’ll be doing a little bit of work each night this week to finish up. Hoping to get all done and driving by next weekend so I can get rolling !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!

I’m actually scared to remove my engine out. I don’t know what to do...and I don’t have space neither.

Is it a Miata? Overall it’s not bad though having a second person makes everything twice as easy.
The only real trick is to make sure to remove the ignition coils before putting the engine back, they get wedged against the firewall.

It’s a Miata as well. Thing is, I just have enough space to fit the car in the garage. I need to replace my clutch and the rear crankshaft seal, if I could take out the engine I could do so much cleaning.

wanted to talk to you about the HILARIOUSNESS of ontario insurance. |
did a online Quote for the Dr650 today.
take a guess at the price...NOPE, you are wrong. they wanted THREE. THOUSAND. DOLLARS. PER YEAR. to insure it.
3k. for a 25 year old dirt bike.
for shits and giggles, I swapped the 25 year old dirt bike for a brand new 2017 Yamaha R1M. a 25K super bike.
they wanted 4100 for the R1.
I died laughing

*head explodes*
Ok time to talk about the elephant in the room. What kind of coverage we talking here? I always do bare minimum as collision just doesn’t add up.

Mine started with just a clutch and rear seal as well. My advice, just do it with the engine in, you’ll be in and out a lot quicker. Plus, you can do a fair amount of cleaming from underneath with a pressure washer

that was minimum. then again, min in ontario is 1 mill coverage. (or at least thats the lowest that to online thing offered)
with full comprehensive, the R1m would have been 5k. thats 2 mill, comp and collision.

Grab a bunch of local Miata guys, pay them in beer and BBQ. Make sure you grab the ones that actually know how to wrench and aren’t just coming over to eat food and drink beer.
